This past Friday, the Students for Asian Awareness at Bucknell (aka SAAB) hosted a sushi workshop for the members of the campus in the Craft Center. It is a great opportunity for our fellow Bucknellians to get to make their own favorite sushi. It is also a great bonding experience for the members of the club helping to organize the event. I was there too and I thought it was great too see everyone who came had a great time enjoying their yummy sushi!

SAAB stands for Students for Asian Awareness at Bucknell. It is a club which its purpose is mainly to promote the cultural awareness of Asian and Asian-American cultures. During the course of the year, the club hosts several activities including Asian Gala, which isĀ a cultural dinner event in Larison Dining Hall. The event consists of student-cooked Asian menus and musical performances and presentations prepared and performed by Bucknell students.

First of all, I must admit that participating in the International Student Orientation when I first arrived in Lewisburg in 2006 is among my most memorable experiences on this campus. Therefore, I was very excited to be part of this wonderful event again when I was selected to be one of the International Orientation Assistants (IOA’s). Hi everyone! My name is Tisorn Songsermsawas (though this may seem to be long for you, I have seen much longer names!). I come from Bangkok, which is the capital city of Thailand. Coincidentally, the Thai name of Bangkok, Krungthep, shares the same meaning of the city with the largest Thai community outside Thailand, Los Angeles.
